Depression
Just like most 'diagnoses', Depression looks different for each person. Depression might look like having very low energy, difficulty getting motivated, and isolation. Other people may experience negative, hurtful, and intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, and an overly critical internal voice. Finally, some people experience thoughts of harming themselves, not wanting to be alive anymore, or even thoughts of ending their own life.

Depression can be caused by a variety of biological, social, and psychological factors including a chemical imbalance, life stressors, grief, and trauma. Sometimes it is hard to do daily tasks of living and hygiene and have the energy to participate in life activities like school and work. Depression can be treated with medication, therapy, and other wellness methods, and mindfulness is often effective with improving depression symptoms.

The good news is that depression is treatable, and things can get better no matter how hopeless or overwhelmed you may feel. Guiding Hope is based on the idea that inside of us is hope, and sometimes it takes guidance to cultivate and grow that hope like a plant from a seed.
